Sunday Club Ride Information

Sunday club rides leave at 9AM from the Chipping Sodbury Clock Tower with Club rides ranging between 35-70 miles. We split our rides into 3 categories: Green, Amber and Red to help display the level of difficulty depending on mileage and elevation combined.

The first Sunday of every month is a Green ride of approximately 35-45 miles. It is a great opportunity for new members to join the club and understand what we are all about. On all rides there will be a coffee stop planned for approximately half-way for that essential coffee & cake re-fuel. Amber and Red rides are for more experienced cyclists and range from 50-70miles with a range of elevation.

Completely New to it all?

Check out what we can offer here.

You must have the route downloaded on either your phone or cycling device. The route is only accessible to members, so if you are new then please contact us via our Facebook page or email where we can supply the GPX route, this will also let us know you're attending.

If you do not let us know in advance, then you may be turned away from the club ride.

Please do get in touch with us if you are new to cycling and we will do our best to support you in your riding endeavours. Green rides are a great place to start if you're looking to gain some initial bike fitness and skills to build up to longer rides. We also recommend checking out the Wednesday evening social rides as per below.

Sunday Club Groups

We operate different ability groups for each ride:

Social ~14mph
Maybe it's rest day, maybe you are newer to cycling, maybe you just want to chill out and enjoy the social side of cycling. Riding for the joy of cycling itself.

Medium ~15.5mph
A more relaxed pace, but still clicking down kilometres to the café stop. For those who want to still chat while riding but also want a good tempo.

Fast 17+mph
For those looking to stretch their legs, the faster riders who want to be at the front and pushing on. Take your turn in the wind if you have the legs for it and dig in to not get dropped. But if you do inevitably get dropped fear not, the medium group will be with you soon.

Summer evening rides

In the summer months we offer a Wednesday social rides, leaving from the clocktower at 6pm, although the time may change which will be posted on the Facebook pages. These rides, however, are a strict 'non drop' ride and are ridden at the social pace of approx. 14mph. The focus is on catching up with fellow riders, and having a chat whilst riding on quiet country roads. There is no requirement to be a club member to attend these rides however all those who attend will need to adhere to the clubs code of conduct. We hope that any individual who does attend will see the benefits of Sodbury as a club and will join the Sunday rides in the future.
